Davis was a three-time world champion saddle bronc rider before becoming a rodeo leader and producer. As president of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, he cast the deciding vote in the contest that brought the National Finals Rodeo from Oklahoma City to Las Vegas.
The first Vegas NFR took place in 1985. Davis became its general manager the following year and remained in that role through 2018. His work included the event’s pacing, fan experience and television presentation.
His local connection is the long-term building of a recurring championship, not a claim that he came from Nevada. Rodeo demonstrates how one annual event can shape a venue, a tourism season and the businesses serving visitors over decades.
