Keith was born in England and grew up in Canada. After a heart transplant in 1986, he moved to Las Vegas and returned to competitive soccer with UNLV under Barry Barto. His two Rebel seasons led to selection at the top of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft.
The regional Hall of Fame identifies him as the first athlete to play professional sport after a heart transplant. His subsequent foundation promoted organ-donor awareness and supported transplant recipients seeking active lives. UNLV was a decisive institution in that return to sport, which gives his Vegas connection far more substance than a passing appearance in the city.
