Murray’s development in Las Vegas preceded his national reputation at Oklahoma and in the NFL. At Bishop Gorman he earned high-school All-America recognition and a place in the 2006 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Oklahoma followed, with three Big 12 championships during his playing career.
Dallas drafted him in 2011. His 2014 season brought 1,845 rushing yards, first-team All-Pro recognition and the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award. His later career included Philadelphia and Tennessee. The strong local connection is his upbringing and high-school development; his NFL achievements were earned with teams outside Nevada.
