Purdy grew up in Las Vegas, attended Cimarron-Memorial and began snowboarding at fifteen. After illness led to the loss of both legs below the knee, she returned to the sport and helped advocate for adaptive snowboarding’s place on the Paralympic program.
She competed at Sochi in 2014 and PyeongChang in 2018, winning three Paralympic medals across those Games. Her work also extended to Adaptive Action Sports, public speaking and efforts to improve participation opportunities for athletes with disabilities. Her Las Vegas roots give the city a connection to winter and Paralympic sport that a directory focused only on arenas would easily miss.
